Bill Janklow

William J. "Bill" Janklow (September 13, 1939 - January 12, 2012), former South Dakota Attorney General, Governor and Congressman, died of cancer on Thursday, Jan. 12; he was 72. He was the state's longest-serving governor, serving from 1979 to 1987 and 1995 to 2003.

SDPB remembers William J. "Bill" Janklow with programming on SDPB Television, SDPB Radio, and SDPB.org. The network was on hand on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the State Capitol as South Dakotans paid tribute to the longtime leader who died Thursday at the age of 72.
