Texting while driving, removing the statute of limitations on certain rape cases and adopting a state mascot were all issues lawmakers tackled the 5th week of the 2012 legislative session. On this edition of Statehouse members of the House of Representatives also consider a resolution that will ask the people of South Dakota to decide whether the number of years a lawmaker can serve should be longer. In Committee action, landowners testify for a bill that would allow them to sue the state of South Dakota if the state is unable to keep the prairie dog population under control. State Aid to Education is also considered in a Senate State Affairs Committee and is moved to the floor for the sake of further discussion. Statehouse airs Friday's at 8pm CT / 7pm Mt on SDPB TV and online at www.sdpb.org/statehouse.
