Innovation - 11/20/2009

Dr. Omathanu Perumal and Mark Luecke talk about using protein nanoparticles to deliver medications.  Dr. Perumal is entrapping a medication inside the nanoparticles which is about 500-times smaller than the diameter of a strand of human hair.

Luecke also visits with SDPB's Cara Hetland about the inaugural South Dakota Student Ventures Competition which allows students to compete for a chance to receive $25,000 of investment capital to start a science and technology-based company.  The contest is sponsored by the South Dakota Innovation Partners.

Fathi Halawiesh and Erin Mercer discuss an EPA grant they received to work on a project to turn waste grease from local fast food restaurants into biodiesel.
