American Indian Journalism Institute

Dakota Digest - 06/15/2005

Some of the most promising Native American journalism students from tribes across the U.S. reported for media boot camp in South Dakota this week. The fifth year of the American Indian Journalism Institute is educating nearly two dozen students on the University of South Dakota campus. SDPB’s Johanna Feaster spoke with one of the masterminds behind the Institute, Jack Marsh. He is the Executive Director of the Freedom Forum’s Al Neuharth Media Center at USD. Marsh says the American Indian Journalism Institute is the largest effort nationwide to increase the number of Native Americans in newsrooms through college campuses.
