Peltier Bids for Parole

Dakota Digest - 07/27/2009

American Indian Movement Activist Leonard Peltier is up for parole for the first time in 15 years.    He is scheduled to face the parole board Tomorrow.  (Tuesday, July, 28th 2009)

In 1977 Peltier was convicted of killing two FBI agents on the Pine Ridge Reservation.   He is now serving two consecutive life terms in federal prison.

His supporters consider Peltier to be America’s preeminent political prisoner.  But opponents claim he is guilty of murder.

South Dakota Public Broadcasting’s Charles Michael Ray has this story.
