State officials are promoting an effort to increase independent living for people with disabilities. Officials are encouraging citizens to have a say in policy making at a series of public meetings planned across the state.
The South Dakota Department of Human Resources is hosting meetings on the State Plan for Independent Living.
Eric Weiss is the Director of Rehabilitation Services. He says the meetings can provide useful insight on disability housing.
“I think if you’re a person will a disability, if you are a family member of a person with a disability. If you’re otherwise involved with supporting people with disabilities to live independently then this may be of interest to you. This is a person’s opportunity to provide input and feedback on the State Plan for Independent Living,” says Weiss.
Weiss says the State Department of Human Resources is providing alternate ways to listen to the meeting.
These public meetings will be held from 2pm-4pm on the following dates and locations:
Thursday May 26
Aberdeen 1707 4th Ave SE
Pierre 3800 East Hwy 34
