South Dakota Highway Patrol superintendent Rick Miller is retiring.
Miller has led the state’s Highway Patrol department since 2019. He’s been a member of the department for more than 20 years, first joining as a trooper in 2001.
Gov. Kristi Noem declared Nov. 17 as "Col. Rick Miller Day" to recognize his contributions to the department.
Miller's last day is Nov. 22. Officials have not yet said who will replace him.
