Bystanders attempt to direct the bird out of traffic

While it may sound like a tall tale, traffic in Sioux Falls was briefly dragged to a halt by an ostrich.

The bird was found wandering South Louise Avenue Tuesday morning before lunch rush.

It’s something you don’t see everyday says one Facebook commentor. Another asks how you can lose a bird that can grow well over 9 feet tall and past 300 pounds.

The answer - a faulty door on a trailer hitch. After it failed the avian was off and running.

The ostrich was unharmed and returned to the owner after fixing the trailer.
