Watertown’s Bramble Park Zoo is denied its Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation due to outdated facilities.
The AZA says some animal enclosures and holding areas no longer meet updated expectations for size, complexity and enrichment required to be accredited. The park still meets all USDA standards and federal regulations for enclosures.
The zoo remains open to the public, however some AZA-related programs are impacted by the decision.
City officials say staff are working on a plan to address the issues brought up by AZA.
