Sioux Falls reminds residents how to keep community clean following holidays

The city of Sioux Falls is reminding residents of ways to keep the community clean and reduce waste following the holiday season.

The city offers drop-off sites for real trees, wreaths and garland until Jan. 5 at North Lyon Boulevard (access is available from West 12th Street or from West Madison Street to North Lyon Boulevard) and west of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility (1015 East Chambers Street). All decorations must be removed prior to drop-off.

The facility operates Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Sioux Falls is also encouraging residents to recycle all wrapping paper, tissue paper and gift bags that do not have glitter, foil, metallic or plastic coatings.

Although items like old holiday lights cannot be recycled in your residential recycle bin – they can be dropped off at the Sioux Falls Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

The facility is open Tuesdays to Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and located at 1015 East Chambers Street.
