The Rapid City Fire Department released its 2024 statistics – with notable increases in some key areas.
The department says overall calls increased by over 3% from 2023. A spokesperson said that’s about double the growth rate of Rapid City in that time period.
The department saw a 90% increase in responses to grass fires. Stroke calls increased by 15%.
However, the report showed positive numbers in some areas. The RCFD said in about 60 building fires, 99.9% of property contents were saved.
In total, the department responded to 22,119 calls for service last year.
