Amos Slade's reputation in the Sioux Falls region has grown rapidly. The band's release of "Hungry Earth," a 12 song collection of songs about living in light of death, bespeaks the work of studio veterans. Band members Nick Engbers, Phil Mueller, Dan Ludeman and Landon Heil performed songs off "Hungry Earth" at the 605 Summer Classic in Sioux Falls on June 22. The alternative rock band from Sioux Falls delivered a driving set at Icon Lounge as adverse weather forced the concert indoors.
The second half of this program features the band White Dads from Minneapolis. The band actually formed in Sioux Falls where Nicholas Christopulos and Samuel Wilbur grew up. They reunited at the University of Minnesota and now include Michael Brown on bass guitar and Justin Politic on drums. White Dads played their blend of indie pop on the second stage at JazzFest on July 20, 2013, at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls. White Dads released "All Natural Disaster" in August, 2011, and a new album is in the works.
