Israeli born Ronit Widmann-Levy performs Saturday night with Listen For Life's Middle Grounds at the Matthews Opera House. The project is a group of international musicians championing peace and unity through music. It brings together five acclaimed artists from the conflict countries of Iran, Iraq, Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Syria. They are bound by a belief that these countries share a heritage that transcends political, religious and geographic boundaries. The Middle Grounds musicians' artistic repertoire includes Middle Eastern instruments like the oud, santur, rahaba and variations of percussion, along with vocals. Widmann-Levy is a classically trained vocalist who performs Ladino, romanzas, cantigas and coplas. She sings in both Hebrew and Ladino, a rarely heard Judeo-Spanish language.
