StoryCorps: Jim White and Woope Claymore

StoryCorps

Since 2003, StoryCorps has traveled the country recording conversations between friends and family. In September and October, the StoryCorps traveling booth was in Rapid City. Among those stopping by to share a conversation were friends Woope Claymore and Jim White.

Claymore suffers from lupus and end stage renal disease. The two met ten years ago when White donated Claymore a kidney. After reading a newspaper article about her ailment, White got tested as a donor and was found to be a suitable match. He traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to donate his left kidney in the spring of 2003. Over the past decade the two have remained an important part of each other's lives.
