The Inspire Project was designed to profile a special group of young people who have remained resilient and shown courage in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges in their lives. Photographer Chris Benson, along with audio-video artist Annie Woodle and writer Leah Diggins, present a collection of 30 large-scale black and white digital prints paired with written accounts of each subject, complemented by audio-visual elements that together reinforce the message of inspiration for the audience. These are emotionally moving portraits of everyday youth who have dealt with adversity, often tragedy, and have emerged transformed. The hope is that their stories will have the power to encourage others to begin their own healing journeys. The exhibition opens on Friday, May 2nd at the Dahl Arts Center with an artists reception from 5-7 p.m. Benson and Woodle discussed the "Inspire" exhibit.
