Zachary Lucky is known for simple, delicate country/folk arrangements that conjure up love and the prairie with a lyrical emphasis on storytelling. Of the Saskatchewan native, No Depression said, "Lucky's songs have lived lifetimes. They sit you down, tell you their stories and heighten your senses to the wonders of nature, love and self." "The Ballad of Losing You" is the sixth release by Lucky, the grandson of Canadian country music legend Smilin' Johnnie Lucky. It hit shelves last September.
The second half of this week's program features John Statz of Colorado. Statz loves to write songs about his travels. His music relives late nights, dirt roads and open skies. Statz has also released six records. The latest, "Old Fashioned," came out in the spring of 2012.
DSU Live, the Madison Area Arts Council and the Dakota State University College of Arts and Sciences welcomed the artists to the TCB Auditorium on March 2.
