In a new collection of horror stories by South Dakota authors, Gruesome Faces, Ghastly Places, readers are taken to tunnels below historical Deadwood for a bizarre exorcism and down I-90 on a rainy road trip leading to a nightmarish construction site. In their short stories, Adrian Ludens, Doug Murano and C.W. LaSart use such familiar scenes as fishing ponds and fireworks shows and twist them into the macabre.
Ludens is a Rapid City radio announcer and program director. He’s the author of another story collection, Bedtime Stories for Carrion Beetles. Murano lives in Rapid City and is a member of the Horror Writers Association and the organization’s promotions and social media coordinator. C.W. Lasart is a Watertown horror writer.
Ludens and Murano joined Dakota Midday and discussed their stories in Gruesome Faces, Ghastly Places and the art of horror writing.
