Where can you find the best barbecue in the country? Kansas City? Austin? Memphis? Missouri writer and Navy Reserve Officer Johnny Fugitt wanted to find out. So, he quit his job and spent a year touring the country searching for the best barbecue joints.
He visited 365 restaurants in the 48 contiguous states, including both famous names and places off the beaten track. He selected his favorites for his new book, The 100 Best Barbecue Restaurants in America. J.R.’s Rhodehouse BBQ Pit in Piedmont, South Dakota made the top 25.
