South Dakota had begun to narrow the education spending gap with neighboring states at the start of this decade, but state budget cuts in 2011 widened the difference and the gap has continued to grow in recent years. That’s according to an analysis of data by South Dakota Dashboard.
South Dakota Dashboard is an online community information service providing trend data on the state. The data covers a variety of statewide community indicators with the major topic areas of demographics, economy, health, housing, workforce and incomes. South Dakota Dashboard is a project of the Black Hills Knowledge Network.
Project director Eric Abrahamson and content editor Denise Ross joined Dakota Midday and discussed the website and series of reports on education funding in the state.
