In The Moment … October 21, 2020 Show 925 Hour 1
The South Dakota Festival of Books continues throughout the month of October in a virtual format. Today we talk with one of the Festival presenters who has a new book in 2020.
Patrick Hicks is a frequent guest on In the Moment. You hear his program "Poetry from Studio 47" each Friday on the show. He's writer-in-residence at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. His previous books include the novel "The Commandant of Lubizec," the poetry collections "Adoptable" and "Library of the Mind," and the short story collection "The Collector of Names."
His newest novel is "In the Shadow of Dora." It's a chilling look at both the depths of human evil and the heights of human accomplishment. This is one of those stories that encourage us to reconsider our history and ask difficult questions about how we achieve greatness and the very nature of the human spirit.
Patrick Hicks joins us today to talk about the book.
You can join him online at the South Dakota Festival of Books tomorrow night at 7 p.m. CDT / 6 p.m. MDT.
