In The Moment … December 10, 2020 Show 958 Hour 1
Chris Vondracek is a South Dakota poet and journalist who packed his reporter's notebook and his Wall Drug decorative sign and moved to Washington D.C. He's not, you might say, all-the-way-gone, however. He has a new book, "Rattlesnake Summer", that features 66 poems for 66 South Dakota counties.
It's a book filled with pickup trucks and roadkill, Friday night lights and dogs with different color eyes. It's familiar and funny, melancholy and memorable. I talked with Chris via Zoom, where he sat near a framed copy of the "Rapid City Journal," to talk about "Rattlesnake Summer."
