This interview posted above is from SDPB's daily public-affairs show, In the Moment, hosted by Lori Walsh.
From 1974 to 2008, Ruth Rehn was an assistant executive director for the South Dakota High School Activities Association. She's one of the main people who helped get a majority of the girls high school sports sanctioned in the Rushmore State after Title IX passed fifty years ago.
Some of her sports include girls basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, and cheer and dance. Dawn Seiler of Aberdeen and Ron Riherd of Rapid City shared some thoughts on why Ruth Rehn was an instrumental figure at the time of her arrival.
Girls Got Game, a documentary that highlights the evolution of girls high school sports in South Dakota over the last 50 years, will air live on May 12 at 8/7 pm MT on SDPB TV.
