In the 70s, "Ms." Magazine made a name for itself as a source of feminist news and ideas.
Founded by renowned activist Gloria Steinem, Ms. Magazine has often been at the forefront on issues of women's healthcare, domestic violence, and the wage gap. Today it continues to uplift artists and writers. The magazine is the inspiration for an exhibit at the Dahl Arts center.
USD psychology professor Cindy Struckman-Johnson started the project after unearthing over 140 vintage editions of the magazine. Stuckman-Johnson says she was captivated by the magazine as a graduate student, now she's passing Ms. to a new generation.
The exhibit at the Dahl is a juried collection of artwork from USD faculty and alumni. Struckman-Johnson joins Lori Walsh on In the Moment to discuss how Ms. continues to push boundaries.
An artist's reception for Project Ms. takes place May 27 at the Dahl Arts Center. It exhibition runs until August 20.
