This interview posted above is from SDPB's daily public-affairs show, In the Moment, hosted by Lori Walsh.

Playwright Larissa FastHorse is the author of a new show at the Black Hills Community Theatre. FastHorse is collaborating with the theatre to produce “Average Family.” It’s a satirical commodity about a Native family and a white family who must switch places during a TV competition.

FastHorse is also the creative mind behind “The Thanksgiving Play,” which opens on Broadway in Spring 2023. The Thanksgiving Play has been one of the top-ten most-produced plays in America. FastHorse is the first Native American playwright to make that top-ten list.

We speak with FastHorse about BHCT's production of "Average Family," indigenous education, and her experiences growing up in South Dakota.

"Average Family" is open now at the Black Hills Community Theatre. Tickets can be purchased on the theatre website.
