This week is national construction awareness week and two of South Dakota’s students are being recognized for their efforts to protect construction workers.

Peyton Benda from Humboldt Elementary and Annika Kimber from Sonia Sotomayor Elementary in Sioux Falls are this year’s Statewide Billboard Coloring Campaign winners.

Their artwork was chosen among many entries from fourth grade students across the state who accepted the challenge to draw construction work zone safety pictures.

Peyton’s artwork will be displayed on Interstate 90 near Humboldt and Annika’s will be displayed on I-29 in Sioux Falls.
