As summer winds down, Sioux Falls Public Works is gearing up for winter. That means the annual Paint the Plow program is back and the city is looking for young artists to showcase their work on city plows.
The program – now in its 14th year – is a contest for elementary, junior high, and high school students to decorate the city’s snowplows.
The city will prime and distribute up to around 30 plows in the coming weeks and completed plows are due the week of Oct. 9. Plows are available for the program and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. To sign up, email Dustin Hansen at [email protected]. For additional details, visit www.siouxfalls.org/ptp.
The public can see and vote on their favorite painted plows at the annual event on Oct. 21. The winning plow will be featured in the Downtown Sioux Falls Parade of Lights on Nov. 24.
