This interview originally aired on "In the Moment" on SDPB Radio.

The Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls is about to open a monumental artistic achievement.

It's big, bright, colorful and looks so soft.

"Dear Diary" takes everyday scenes — a grocery store, a fast food restaurant, a little girl's bedroom — and reinvents them with fabric, fur, paper and repurposed items.

Erin Murtha and Noelle Vainikka are the artists behind "Dear Diary." Jana Anderson is the lead curator of the Visual Arts Center at the Washington Pavilion.

They join "In the Moment" to talk about reinventing the familiar and mundane.
