This interview originally aired on "In the Moment" on SDPB Radio.

For perhaps the first time, a South Dakotan name is on the list of grantees from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.

Klaire Lockheart, Miss Art World South Dakota, will use the grant to create paintings of dudes in their element.

She discusses being named a grantee and takes us into her artistic process when creating her "brodalisque" series. She shares why she's pushing back against the traditional museum pieces she calls "pale, male and stale."
