Sioux Falls board seeks artwork for ArtAbility exhibit

Sioux Falls’ Disability Awareness and Accessibility Review Board (DAARB) is looking for art to include in this year’s ArtAbility exhibit.

The exhibit is all about providing local artists with disabilities a platform to display and sell their work.

Jamie Reindl is the chair of the ArtAbility committee. She said while there are other opportunities for artists with disabilities to showcase their work elsewhere, they’re limited and ArtAbility is a unique platform.

“They have to work a lot harder to find those opportunities," said Reindl. "And having ArtAbility just creates a really open platform where we actually market to them to provide this opportunity. So, I think we see a lot more artists with disabilities feel comfortable presenting their work, they’re supported in the process, and a lot of times, it’s a nice foot in the door to do this and it maybe creates more opportunities.”

The show takes place April 25 at The Underground by Rehfeld’s in Sioux Falls from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. They’ll have refreshments, live music, and art for sale.

Interested artists should submit their entry forms by April 4. Learn more and access the form here.
