The Black Hills Area Community Foundation is launching its second annual Thriving Communities Initiative.

The Thriving Communities Initiative is a $100,000 grantmaking effort which asks Black Hills residents to choose an issue in the community that needs more support.

When the voting period ends, BHACF awards no less than $100,000 to nonprofits across the northern, central, and southern Black Hills that address the winning issue.

Last year, the initiative received responses from over 600 residents, which resulted in $125,000 being granted to ten nonprofits promoting recreation and care for the outdoors.

This year, area residents can vote on four causes including: youth mental wellness, quality care for elders, arts for all, and child care for healthy families.

Black Hills residents can vote online by May 31. To vote or donate to the Thriving Communities Fund, visit www.bhacf.org/thriving-communities.
