SDPB Spotlight

Connect with SDPB and your neighbors about topics that matter to South Dakotans with SDPB Spotlight. Each month, SDPB invites you to lend your perspective and experience to conversations that help us all better understand the history, issues, and events that impact South Dakota’s communities.

June: Rodeo

In June, SDPB Spotlight shines a light on South Dakota’s rodeo traditions.

From the people and places that make up the rodeo traditions, to the State High School Rodeo Finals in Fort Pierre, to the politics behind the construction of the new livestock complex and rodeo arenas in Huron.

July: Summer School Civics Lesson

In July, SDPB Spotlight takes you to summer school. We will find out what our students are learning in school civics classes, have a few tests of our own, and find out how curriculum is set by school boards across the state.

April & May 2021: Guns in South Dakota & Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW)

In April, SDPB discussed “Guns in South Dakota,” including gun policy, sportsmanship, and mental health in the aftermath of gun violence. In May, SDPB Spotlight featured personal stories and developments for increased advocacy and awareness for “South Dakota’s Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW).” See those stories and more at SDPB.org/Spotlight.

We want you to be part of the story.

Share your story by leaving a voicemail at 605-951-0740.

Join the broader conversations throughout each month on SDPB’s In the Moment, South Dakota Focus, and at SDPB.org/Spotlight
