The Kristi Noem campaign is advertising a shirt for hunting season in South Dakota that says “Less COVID. More Hunting.”
The phrase sits inside an outline of the state. The catchphrase comes from a Twitter video posted a few weeks ago, where she said pheasant hunting is how South Dakotans social distance.
South Dakota has the second highest weekly cases per capita in the United States, just behind North Dakota. Almost 325 South Dakotans have died from the disease.
Governor Noem has drawn some accolades for her approach to the coronavirus pandemic, by resisting any statewide mandates or shutdowns. That approach has made her a rising star in the Republican Party. Lately, she’s been on the campaign trail for President Donald Trump’s reelection.
