Eight high school golfers from South Dakota have been invited to participate in a National Invitational event this week in Pinehurst, North Carolina. The tournament starts today, June 28th, and will conclude on Wednesday.
“This invite-only tournament field [is made up of] the top high school golfers across the country competing at a place as timeless as the game itself. The boys invitational tournament is a 3-day, 54 hole stroke play event including team and individual competition. Competition rounds will take place on Pinehurst No. 7, No. 8, and No. 9 courses.” – National High School Golf Association.
The eight golfers from South Dakota who received invites for this event are Lance Christensen Jr of Little Wound , Micah Dohrer of Aberdeen Roncalli, Kaden Rylance of Watertown, and the Sioux Falls Christian team made up of Andrew Dykstra, Brendon VanBeek, Eli Anema, Kale Jost, and Brodie VanDenBrink.
“Receiving an invitation to the National Invitational is quite an honor since only the best high school golf team and individuals will receive invites based on state championship performance. The Invitation brings together a wide variety of golfers from nearly all 50 states. Public or private, suburban or rural, or small or large, all high school state championship teams, individuals, and families are welcome at the invitational.” – NHSGA
Athletes had practice events starting this past Friday at the Pinehurst Resort. Sioux Falls Christian was chosen to compete in the team competition of the event. Scoring is provided by Golf Genius. Click Here to follow the results throughout the event.
