Brandon Valley high school will host the 2021 state high school cheer and dance competition on October 22-23 with Class A on Friday night and Class AA on Saturday.
Both days of the state cheer and dance competition will air live on SDPB2-TV and be streamed live online at sdpb.org/cheerdance.
The event will begin at 5 pm CT on Friday October 22 with the competition portion starting at 5:15 pm CT. Saturday's broadcast will begin at 11 am CT with the first performance set to begin at 11:15 am CT.
Sioux Valley has won the state 'A' cheer title every year since cheer and dance became a sanctioned sport, so fourteen straight state cheer championships, with the South Dakota High School Activities Association. Dakota Valley has been dominant in 'A' dance as well winning the past eleven state dance titles.
In Class AA, there's no clear dynasty program in cheer. Sioux Falls Roosevelt won it last year, and they're three-time champions overall. Sioux Falls Washington has dominated 'AA' dance since its inception, winning twelve state championships. The Warriors dance team enters this year's competition as the six-time defending champions.
At the conclusion of the competition schedule on both Friday and Saturday, an awards ceremony will take place. Click here for the 'A' competition schedule, and click here for the 'AA' competition schedule.
