This is the tenth season that soccer has been a sanctioned SDHSAA high school sport in the state of South Dakota.
During the sanctioned era in class A girls, West Central has won four of the past five state championships, while Dakota Valley is making their first ever state championship appearance. Neither Sioux Falls Roosevelt or Rapid City Stevens have won state championships in girls soccer.
On the boys side, Tea Area and Sioux falls have met in the ‘A’ championship game for the past three years. Tea Area, who is a four-time champion in boys soccer, has won two of the past three championship matchups with Sioux Falls Christian. The Chargers won it last year over the Titans 2-1.
O’Gorman is the defending state champion in boys ‘AA,’ and they’ll take on Yankton who is making their first championship game appearance in boys soccer.
All four matches will air live on SDPB2-TV, and stream live online at sdpb.org/soccer.
