Two years ago, Amazon announced plans to open a distribution center in Sioux Falls. The company said it would be operational sometime this year.
But construction is delayed.
Bob Mundt is the president and CEO of the Sioux Falls Development Foundation. He says Amazon blames supply chain problems.
“We don't know what a timeline is for them to get this up and operating. We were told to just kind of be patient, and so, we are being patient.”
Scott Seroka is a public relations manager with Amazon. He says the project will be built.
“We’re still excited to launch this new facility in Sioux Falls, though we’ve had to adjust our timing.”
The five-story facility is in northwest Sioux Falls. It is expected to create about 1,000 full-time jobs.
No positions are advertised yet.
