The Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources (DANR) announced over $90 million of funding for water projects across the state.

The Board of Water and Natural Resources approved grants and loan funding for 23 counties.

DANR said funding will establish infrastructure to improve the state’s drinking water, wastewater, storm water, and solid waste systems.

Hunter Roberts is the Secretary of DANR. He said these dollars will help generations to come.

“Safe and reliable water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure help protect our environment and strengthen communities for our kids and grandkids,” said Roberts.

Grant funding provides $12 million of the total while $78 million of the funding is provided in low-interest loans.

DANR will administer $9 million in principle forgiveness on the loans provided to counties across the state.

The program is funded by a combination of federal dollars, loan repayments, and bonds.
