Lake Francis Case Economic Development announced a new child care initiative for Chamberlain-Oacoma communities.
The initiative includes employee bonuses, funding facility maintenance, an incubator fund, employer matching tuition assistance, covering the cost of certification courses, and Chamber of Commerce membership for child care providers.
Funding comes from a $30,000 grant from the Barger Foundation.
The programs are aimed at tackling the statewide child care shortage.
“This is a problem that we have identified in our community, and we are working to find solutions. These programs demonstrate our community's commitment to providing high-quality childcare services that empower our families," said Chamberlain Mayor Monte Claussen in a press release.
Lake Francis Case Economic Development hopes to inspire communities in South Dakota and nationwide to address child care shortages.
