Assistance programs available for those unemployed from flooding

SDPB

The South Dakota Department of Labor and Regulations is reminding residents of its reemployment assistance program in the wake of recent flooding.

“Some businesses have been forced to close because of flooding,” said state Labor and Regulation Secretary Marcia Hultman. “If affected employees meet certain eligibility guidelines and monetary wage requirements, they may qualify for benefits.”

This program helps provide temporary income to those who’ve lost work suddenly, while they search for new employment. There's a required one-week waiting period before receiving benefit payments.

Claims can be filed at the link above or by calling the department directly.
