The Federal Emergency Management Agency gives out $5,549,375 to South Dakotans.

Following the summer’s historic floods, FEMA announced disaster assistance would be available for state residents.

As of September 5, 2024, 926 applications in Turner, Lincoln, Davison, and Union counties have been approved.

Officials say that not only those affected by the flooding can get financial assistance, but also those impacted by the high winds or other storm related effects from the storms that brought the floods.

Eligible residents can register for assistance by phone, online, in the FEMA app, or in person at a disaster recovery center. FEMA recovery centers can be found in Union, Lincoln, Davison, and Turner county.
