The City of Sioux Falls is one step closer to finding a new home for the Brockhouse Taxidermy collection.

Over 150 taxidermy mounts had been on display at the Delbridge Museum in Sioux Falls. A study found the specimens to have unsafe levels of arsenic be on open public display.

During the last legislative session, lawmakers amended South Dakota law to allow the city to donate the collection of taxidermy to nonprofits in the United States or another political subdivision within the state.

The city is asking organizations interested in housing the collection to apply. Applications are due Dec. 12.
