State's 2032 employment projections show growth

State projections to 2032 for occupational employment show an expected growth in many job areas.

The Department of Labor is expecting an almost 8% increase in employment in the next 10 years. That equates to over 39,000 new jobs in the state.

Some of the occupations that are expected to grow the fastest are:

Wind Turbine Service Technicians (56.8% change)
Nurse Practitioners (56.4% change)
Data Scientists (40.5% change)
Information Security Analysts (37.8% change)
Physician Assistants (34.3% change)
Cooks/Restaurant Job (31.6% change)
Physical Therapist Assistants (29.9% change)
Medical and Health Services Managers (27.3% change)
Nurse Anesthetists (27.2% change)
Industrial Machinery Mechanics (27.2% change)

The 10 occupational employment groups are expected to account for over 2,000 new jobs by 2032.

Physician Assistants, Information Security Analysts, Data Scientists and Nurse Practitioners are all expected to see higher growths in South Dakota than the same projections on a national level.

While some are expected to grow, the Labor Market Information Center does say that 62 out of the 577 projections are going to see some decline.
