Rapid City's biggest Restaurant Week to date kicked off Thursday. This year, the event features special deals and limited menu items from dozens of restaurants, breweries, bakeries, cafes and bars city-wide.
Callie Meyer is Director of Community Engagement at Visit Rapid City. Meyer says Restaurant week has been happening for about 10 years, and has expanded recently from 14 restaurants in 2023 to 39 in 2024, and now more than 51 locations this week.
According to Meyer, the annual event provides an opportunity for people to get out during the winter months and explore local cuisine and drinks.
"I feel like folks get into a post-holiday slump and it can be hard to find motivation to maybe leave your house or go out and do something," said Meyer. "So, I feel like this is a really great way to motivate people to, one, go out and do something, and to simultaneously support their local businesses."
This year, Visit Rapid City is donating a dollar to Feeding South Dakota for every check-in at a participating restaurant on Friday, Jan. 17. To learn more, visit RCrestaurantweek.com.
