Rhoden seeks nominations for 2025 Governor's Awards of Excellence

Gov. Larry Rhoden opened the nomination window for this year’s Governor’s Awards of Excellence.

He said they’re designed to highlight “the excellence of our state employees and the service they provide to the people of South Dakota.”

The public can nominate someone in one of four categories: Innovation, Leadership, Safety, and Civility.

Rhoden said they’ll recognize finalists at a special celebration.

Last year's winners included:

  • Safety: Shaina Smykle with the Dept. of Social Services
  • Leadership: Mark Rath with the Dept. of Ag and Natural Resources
  • Service: Tina Johnson with the Dept. of Labor and Regulation
  • Innovation: Mike Barnes with the Dept. of Game, Fish, and Parks
