SkyWest is returning as the air service carrier for both Watertown and Pierre.
Both communities’ city councils awarded contracts to the Utah-based regional airline in meetings this week.
Denver Air Connection had been both cities’ air service provider the past four years. SkyWest served both cities prior to that.
SkyWest begins service at both airports June 1. In Pierre, the airline is offering flights to Denver, while in Watertown it will fly to both Denver and Chicago.
The contracts are through the Essential Air Service program, a U.S. Department of Transportation program that subsidizes flights to smaller communities.
