Silvia Christen, executive director of the South Dakota Stockgrowers Association, participated in the South Dakota Agricultural and Rural Leadership (SDARL) international seminar in Chile and Peru last month. Christen said, "I was really impressed with the variety of things we saw and how directly connected we are to their ag practices there. From seed corn production to apples, cherries and fruit that was all exported to the U.S. on USDA standards, to seeing how diversified their ag production was compared to ours, they are much more flexible than our producers in that sense. But from a technology stand point, we're light years ahead of them." Christen was joined on Dakota Midday by Lori Cope, executive director of South Dakota Agricultural and Rural Leadership, Inc.
