Look at Me, Look at You!

Father and son muppets are looking in a mirror at their reflection and the words found on the downloadable page are in the mirror, “I am somebody. I am unique. I am curious. I can make the world better. I am a good friend. I love being me. I'm an upstander.“

Every morning, the new Sesame Street friends Wes and his dad Elijah look in the mirror and repeat some sentences in their “proud voices.”

Together with children, you can too. Print this page and try it. You might post it on a mirror. What other affirmations can you think of that you’d like children to remember? Write them at the bottom of the page.

The reminders that kids need to hear might change from day to day, but integrating this routine into your day can set a foundation of resilience and confidence that can last a lifetime. It also helps to frequently tell children why you’re proud of them and what makes them unique!
