The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms is offering a $10,000 reward for information about a gun burglary.
Over 100 firearms were stolen from Reloader’s Corner in Isabel.
The theft occurred over the weekend of Aug. 13, with handguns, shotguns, rifles and accessories among the stolen items.
Ashlee Sherrill is with the ATF’s St. Paul office.
“We do have a couple of leads we’re running down," Sherrill said. "There is surveillance footage we’re going to be reviewing. One of our agents went out to investigate, and he found the front door had been forcibly entered and numerous firearms were missing.”
Sherrill reminds gun store owners to consider their security.
“This was a federal firearms licensee," Sherrill said. "So, ATF also regulates the firearm industry. We always highly recommend these federal firearms licensees secure their inventory when they’re not on the premises.”
Sherrill said crimes like this contribute to firearm trafficking.
“We would just really appreciate any help from the public who might know anybody who might be involved in this incident," Sherrill said. "We definitely could use any information to help get to the bottom of this crime. We have to stop firearms trafficking, and 100 firearms being stolen is just unacceptable.”
In 2020, a Rapid City gun store had 40 firearms stolen in a break-in, and individual firearms are often stolen from unlocked cars.
