A Tyndall man will serve three life sentences in prison following his conviction for three counts of first-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault.

Francis Langue was sentenced to consecutive life sentences for each murder charge and 15-year consecutive sentences for each aggravated assault charge, according to a press release from the South Dakota attorney general's office.

He shot and killed three people and injured two others in Scotland, South Dakota in 2021, prosecutors said.

Lange pled guilty but mentally ill to the charges.

“The sentencing today brings some resolution to this tragic case and justice for the victim’s family,” Attorney General Marty Jackley said. “This was a cooperative effort between state and local law enforcement and prosecutors.”
