The trial date for the man accused of killing a Moody County law enforcement officer is set.
Gene Hoek’s trial is scheduled to begin April 21, 2025, according to the attorney general’s office.
Hoek is charged with first-degree murder in the February death of Moody County Chief Deputy Sheriff Ken Prorok. Prosecutors say Hoek struck the deputy with his vehicle during a police chase.
Attorney General Marty Jackley said if Hoek is found guilty, the state intends to seek the death penalty.
Hoek has pleaded not guilty.
